Jean Tharaud

Jean Tharaud ( Birth name: Charles Tharaud, born May 9, 1877 in Saint- Junien, Haute- Vienne, † April 8, 1952 ) was a French writer who was a member of the Académie française in 1946. His older brother Jérôme Tharaud, with whom he wrote most of his novels and in which he was awarded the prestigious Prix Goncourt for Dingley, l' illustrious écrivain 1906, was in 1938 a member of the Academy.

Life

Tharaud grew up with his older brother Jérome on in the Charente. Having rejected his admission to the military academy Saint- Cyr after attending the Lycée in Angoulême, he went to Paris to begin an apprenticeship as inspector in financial management. However, he decided in Paris to begin a study of philosophy and began with his brother, his literary activity.
