Jean Vautrin

Jean Vautrin ( born May 17, 1933, Pagny -sur -Moselle ) is a French author and a well-known under his real name Jean Herman director and screenwriter.

Life and work

Jean Vautrin was born in Pagny -sur- Moselle, in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle. After an uncompleted studies, he worked for two years as a teacher of French literature at the University of Mumbai. In India, he was involved in 1957 as assistant to Roberto Rossellini's film in India, Mother Earth. Back in France, he himself took over the director's chair for several feature films, including the thriller " sing " When cops not friends with Alain Delon and Charles Bronson in the lead roles. For films by directors such as Gilles Béhat, Georges Lautner and Yves Boisset he provided the screenplays for the Garde à vue of 1982 he was honored along with Claude Miller and Michel Audiard with the César.

From the 1970s he began writing novels. Of Bloody Mary 1980 awarded the Prix Mystère de la critique and Un grand pas vers le Bon Dieu 1989 with the Prix Goncourt.
