Ad- Dair, Arabic جبل الدائر, DMG Jabal ad - Dā'ir, alternative spellings: Jebel Dair, Jebel Dair, Gebel Dair, Ed- Deir; is a table mountain on the northern edge of the Nuba Mountains in the Sudanese state of South Kordofan.

Ad Dayr is located about 90 km south-east of El Obeid air line and 20 kilometers south of the railway line Kosti - Nyala. The mainly composed of igneous rock mountain rises about 1000 feet above the surrounding countryside and 1451 meters above the sea level.

The plateau is partially covered with natural vegetation islands of bamboo Oxythenanthera of relatively fertile, deep soils and some in the 20th century introduced eucalyptus trees. In the water-rich valleys of the plateau grow several species of deciduous trees.

There is virtually no vegetation on the sandy mountain flanks. The region around the ad - Dair is suitable for dry and subsistence only in shifting cultivation. Commercial cultivation of peanuts or sesame concentrates on the fertile soils in the wadis. In the area north and northwest of the ad - Dair some major wadis flow together. These dry valleys lead only occasionally during the summer rainy season (May to October) water. The main benefit of Jebel Dair is the water supply to the surrounding areas during the dry season.
