Jeff Corey

Jeff Corey (actually Arthur Zwerling; born August 10, 1914 in Brooklyn, New York; † August 16, 2002 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American actor.

Life and career

Corey began his acting career in the 1930s as a Shakespearean actor and came in the following decade to Hollywood, where he became a sought-after character actor soon. At the time of the Committee on Un-American Activities ( House Committee on Un - American Activities ) began his career in 1951, however, turned to a halt. He refused to answer questions from the Committee, so that his name was put on the black list and him were denied for years other engagements.

Then Corey began working as a drama teacher and taught until 1962 numerous pupils, among them Jane Fonda, Jack Nicholson and Robin Williams. With its participation in the balcony, he returned in 1963 as a cast member on the canvas back and played more than 150 roles in film and television until the end of the millennium. His most famous role was the Sheriff Bledsoe in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
