Jefferson Davis Brodhead

Jefferson Davis Brodhead (born 12 January 1859 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, † April 23, 1920 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. Between 1907 and 1909 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jefferson Brodhead was the son of U.S. Senator Richard Brodhead ( 1811-1863 ). He attended the common schools. After a subsequent law degree in 1881 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he began to work in Stroudsburg in this profession. In 1889, he was district attorney in Northampton County. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1906 Brodhead was elected in the 26th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he became the successor of the Republican Gustav A. Schneebeli on March 4, 1907. Since he was not nominated by his party for re-election in 1908, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1909.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Brodhead practiced law in South Bethlehem. In 1914 he became a judge in Northampton County. He died on April 23, 1920 in the federal capital, Washington and was buried in his hometown of Easton.
