Jeffrey Smart
Jeffrey Smart ( born July 26, 1921 in Adelaide, † June 20, 2013 in Montevarchi ) was an Australian artist. Smart wanted to be an architect before turning to painting originally. Early influences were for him Piero della Francesca, and Cézanne. Between 1937 and 1941 he studied at Ivor Hele, 1949, he moved to Paris, where he studied with Fernand Léger. Since 1964, Smart has lived in Italy. 1999/2000 a comprehensive retrospective was dedicated.
