Jennifer Westfeldt

Jennifer Westfeldt ( born February 2, 1970 in Guilford, Connecticut ) is an American actress, screenwriter and film producer.

Life and achievements

Westfeldt has Swedish ancestors. She studied at Yale University, came into New York City in a few plays, and moved to Los Angeles. Her first television role was in 1998 in the first season of the series A trio good enough to eat.

Westfeldt co-wrote with Heather Juergensen the play Lipschtick in which both women appeared in the leading roles of a lesbian lovers. The piece was filmed as a comedy Kissing Jessica Stein (2001 ), in which Juergensen and Westfeldt the same roles were as in the play; they also wrote the screenplay and produced it with the movie. They received in 2001 a special prize from the Los Angeles IFP / West Film Festival and was nominated for the screenplay for the Independent Spirit Award in 2003. Westfeldt won in addition for her performance in the 2003 Golden Satellite Award.

The role in the musical Wonderful Town brought Westfeldt in 2004, the Theatre World Award and was nominated for a Tony Award. In the mystery thriller Keep Your Distance (2005), she took over beside Gil Bellows one of the main roles. Another main role she played in the comedy Ira and Abby (2006), which screenplay she wrote and co-produced it. This role earned her in 2006, the Audience Award at the Boston Jewish Film Festival and in 2007 the film Discovery Jury Award at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival.

Westfeldt resides in Los Angeles and is in a relationship with actor Jon Hamm. Both founded in 2009, the production company, Points West Pictures.
