Jenny Owens

Jenny Owens ( born May 17, 1978 in Sydney ) is an Australian freestyle skier in the discipline of ski cross and former alpine skier.

Biography

Your first of five Australian championship titles won Owens in 1998. The best result at the Junior World Championships in the same year was an eleventh place in the downhill. Her debut in the Alpine Skiing World Cup, they were on 17 December 1999 in St. Moritz, where she went in the downhill at number 46. The next day she came in 29th place in the same discipline and took the first World Cup points.

Owens 's difficulty to catch up with the world leaders and, therefore, increasingly took part in Continental Championships. In the winters of 2000/ 01 and 2001/ 02 they scored in the European Cup downhill ever podium. Her best World Cup result she achieved on 13 January 2002, 17th place in the combination of Saalbach -Hinterglemm. At the 2002 Winter Olympics they finished ninth in the combination.

Further success in Alpine skiing remained and Owens came back in January 2004 for financial reasons. In the summer of 2005, she decided to switch to freestyle skiing ski cross and compete in the discipline. On 20 January 2006 Owens launched in Kreischberg first time in a ski cross World Cup race and was immediately Eighth. The best result in their inaugural season was a fourth place in the Sierra Nevada. The first podium it achieved on 16 January 2008 in Flaine with second place, followed by a third place four days later in Kreischberg.

Another podium place went to Owens in the 2008 /09 season. At the Olympic Winter Games 2010, she drove to 13th place. In the World Cup season they binned regularly in the top ten ( including a third place ) at the Freestyle World Championships 2011, she was fifth. In 2012 she won the bronze medal at the Winter X Games.
