Jeremiah Russell

Jeremiah Russell ( born January 26, 1786 in Saugerties, New York, † September 30, 1867 ) was an American politician. Between 1843 and 1845 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jeremiah Russell was born about two and a half years after the end of the Revolutionary War in Saugerties and grew up there. During this time he received a limited education. After that, he pursued both commercial transactions and real estate and banking. He served several terms as Town Supervisor. In 1842 he sat in the New York State Assembly. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1842 for the 28th Congress Russell was in the tenth electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Daniel D. Barnard on March 4, 1843. In 1844 he suffered in his re-election bid a defeat and retired after the March 3, 1845 from the Congress of.

After his conference time he went to banking transactions. He died on 30 September 1867 in Saugerties and was then buried at the Mountain View Cemetery. To jendem time of civil war was about two years to finish.
