Jerry Adler

Jerry Adler ( born February 4, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American theater director and director as well as television and film actor.

Early life

Adler was born on February 4, 1929 as the son of Pauline and Philip Adler. His father was at that time Head of Group Theatres in New York City. Jerry Adler grew up in a Jewish household.

Theater

Adler began his theater career in 1951 as a stage manager for musicals like Of Thee I Sing and My Fair Lady. Subsequently, he was production manager for such productions as The Apple Tree, Black Comedy / White Lies, Dear World, Coco, 6 Rms Riv Vu, Annie, and I Remember Mama. His directorial debut, he celebrated in 1974 with the Sammy Cahn revue Words and Music. In 1976, he led the revival of My Fair Lady Director and received a nomination for a Drama Desk Award. He also led the 1981 musical The Little Prince and the Aviator.

Play-acting

As a television actor, he is best known for his role as Herman " Hesh " Rabkin in The Sopranos (1999-2007) to a wider audience.

Previously, he has played such roles as Mr. Wicker in Mad About You (1992-1999) and as Lieutenant Al Teischler in Who's the cop? (1995-1996) known. Adler had three appearances as Alan Schulman in 1990 produced up to 1995 television series Northern Exposure. Among his film roles In Her Shoes (2005), Manhattan Murder Mystery ( 1993) and The Reporter ( 1992).
