Jesse Stone (character)

Jesse Stone is the protagonist of a series of crime novels which were originally written by Robert B. Parker and later continued by Michael Brandman. Based on the novels was begun in 2005, a number of television films.

Action

The novels and films deal with the alcoholic and suffering from his divorce Jesse Stone, who is chief of police in the fictional town of Paradise, Massachusetts. Jesse Stone is an experienced policeman, quiet and grumpy and just therefore sympathetic. The stories are influenced by the typical American small town life, sometimes enriched with influences from the nearby city of Boston.

Novels

The first nine novels comes from the American author Robert B. Parker. He let Jesse Stone also occur in three novels of his series about private investigators Spenser and Sunny Randall. After the death of the author's Jesse Stone series by Michael Brandman was continued, which has published two novels. Brandman wrote previously with on the scripts of the series.

Were translated into German so far only the first two volumes.

Movies

CBS realized based on the novels of a series of TV movies with Tom Selleck in the lead role. The order of the novels is not respected, the first four movies, however keep closely to the originals. In particular, the figure of Jesse Stone oriented despite the age difference as close to the original novel. In the films, Stone is about twenty years older than in the books.

Beginning with the fifth film Thin Ice broke the film series of the book series and developed a stand-alone action.

As the U.S. television network CBS announced after the airing of the eighth film in May 2012, the station will produce no further films more.

The pilot episode Eiskalt ( Stone Cold ) is classified in content between the consequences Knallhart ( Night Passage ) and Totgeschwiegen (Death in Paradise ).
