Jessica Hynes

Jessica Hynes (* November 15, 1972 in London as Jessica Stevenson ) is a British actress and screenwriter.

Life and achievements

Hynes grew up in Brighton. She began as a teenager, collaborating in the National Youth Theatre. Upon reaching adulthood, she moved to London, where she appeared in several plays. Her first movie role she was on the side of Robert Sean Leonard and Christian Bale in the musical drama Swing Kids from the year 1993.

1996 Hynes played in the television series Asylum, for which she also co-wrote the screenplay. From 1999 to 2001, she starred opposite Simon Pegg on in a leading role in the television series Spaced; together with Pegg she also wrote the screenplay. As an actress she received in 1999 and 2001 British Comedy Award. Together with Pegg, Edgar Wright and Nira Park in 2002 she was nominated for the BAFTA TV Award. Their main role in the comedy La Scala Tomorrow! (2002) earned her a 2003 a further nomination for the BAFTA TV Award and a nomination for the RTS Television Award from the Royal Television Society. In the film drama A song to fall in love (2007) she played a major role alongside Stanley Tucci, Rhys Ifans, Hugh Bonneville and Jena Malone. Hynes wrote the screenplay of the TV comedy Learners (2007 ), in which she appeared in a leading role. In 2010 she starred opposite Pegg in Burke & Hare by John Landis.

Hynes played a supporting role in 2002 exhibited at the Royal Court Theatre play The Night Heron. For this role she was nominated for the 2003 Laurence Olivier Award.

Hynes has been married since 2002 and has three children. In 2007, she took the last name of her husband Adam Hynes.
