Jessica Marais

Jessica Marais (born 29 January 1985 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is an Australian actress.

Early life

Marais was born in South Africa and moved with her family first to Canada and New Zealand, and finally at the age of nine years to Perth in Australia.

Six months later died Marais father Tony, on the way back from a picnic, to a heart attack. Marais and her younger sister were then raised by her mother. She attended one year the John XXIII College and then moved in 1995 to its completion in 2002 to St Hilda 's Anglican School for Girls.

Marais visited the National Institute of Dramatic Art ( NIDA ). Appearances they had there. Among others as Ophelia in William Shakespeare's Hamlet and as Charity in Sweet Charity During her last year at NIDA, she was cast the Rafters (2008-2013) for the role of Rachel Rafter in the television series.

Career

Marais had several appearances on television series, such as when the Mord'Sith Denna in Legend of the Seeker - The Sword of Truth (2009-2010), as Rachel Rafter in the Rafters (2008-2013) and as Lily Diamond in Magic City ( 2012-2013). For her performance in the Rafters 2009, she won two Logie Awards for " Most Popular New Female Talent" and " Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent ".

Films in which she played are Two Fists, One Heart (2008), Fish Lips ( 2010) and Needle ( 2010).

Private life

Marais is engaged with the Australian actor James Stewart, who also played in the series The Rafters. With him, she has a daughter.
