Jewish Cemetery of Jestädt

The Jewish cemetery Jestädt is a Jewish cemetery in Jestädt, in the municipality of Meinhard in the Werra- Meißner-Kreis in Hesse. He is a protected cultural monument.

Description

The cemetery is located north of Jestädt near and east of the moaning harvester road, about 500 meters from the village outskirts. It runs parallel to the Talverlauf or the forest border. There are 170 grave stones available.

History

The cemetery was occupied at least from 1642 to 1855. An "Historic plan of 1780 " shows two orthogonal Parts of the cemetery. Part one is with " age - Jews Todt Hoff ", which indicates other with " Jews dead Hoff ". From the old part no traces remain.
