Jiangshanian

The Jiangshanium is in Earth's history, the average chronostratigraphic stage of Furongium series of the Cambrian. The Jiangshanium is superimposed by Paibium under and by the yet unnamed 10th level of the Cambrian. The Jiangshanium lasted about 494 million years ago to 489.5 million years (interpolated).

Naming and history

The name of the stage was ratified in September 2011. It is named after the Chinese Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province.

Definition and GSSP

The lower limit is determined by the first appearance of the trilobite species occurring worldwide Agnostotes orientalis. It also correlates with the first appearance of the trilobite type Irvingella angustilimbata. The upper limit is defined by the first appearance americanus probably the trilobite type Lotagnostus. The 10th stage of the Cambrian has not yet been named and has not yet been formally established the lower limit.

The GSSP (Global standard stratotype Section and Points ) is a profile of the village Duibian ( Duibian B Section), north of Jiangshan (western Zhejiang Province, China ). The GSSP is located in the profile 108.12 m above the base of Huayansi lineup.
