Jieziyuan Huazhuan

The painting Manual of the Mustard Seed Garden (Chinese芥子 园 画 传/芥子 园 画 传, Pinyin Jièzǐyuán huàzhuàn / Jieziyuan huazhuan, W.-G. Chieh tzu yuan hua chuan ), also芥子 园 画谱/芥子 园 画谱, Jièzǐyuán huàpǔ / Jieziyuan is Huapu a historic chinese pattern book on the art of Chinese ink painting. The work is still regarded among artists and students as an indispensable reference work.

History

The first, published in 1679, by Wang Gai (王 概) and Li Liufang (李 流芳) compiled work was frequently reprinted, and later expanded from two to five volumes.

Besides the people already mentioned later also worked Zhu Sheng, Wang Zhi and others in the work.

The plant is named after the Mustard Seed Garden of Li Yu (1611-1680), a " mustard seed large " estate in Nanjing with a book shop and a print shop where the work was originally published.

The work stands in line with such an important painting manuals such as the Meihua xishenpu (梅花 喜 神 谱) Song Boren ( Nan Song), Zhupu Xianglu (竹 谱 详 录) Li Yan ( yuan), the Xuanhe Huapu (宣 和 画谱) ( In song) and the Shizhuzhai shuhuapu (十 竹 斎 书画 谱) Hu Zhengyan ( Ming Dynasty ).

English translations worried Mai- mai Sze. A two-volume, incomplete German translation appeared in 1987. It is furnished for educational purposes.
