Jigme Dorji Wangchuck

Was from 1952 until his death Druk Gyalpo of Bhutan 3rd: ( † 15 or July 21, 1972 in Thimphu ' Jigs -med rDo -rje dBang - phyug; ; born 2 May 1929 in Thimphu Wylie ) Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Predecessor was his father, Jigme Wangchuck.

Jigme Dorji Wangchuck is considered the king of the modernization of his country. Under his reign, the Parliament ( Tshogdu ) was created, introduced a free school system, started the road construction in the country and Bhutan joined the UN in 1971. He also established in 1953 the royal Dechencholing Palace.

Jigme Dorji Wangchuck married Ashi Kesang Choden and has a son, his successor on the throne, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
