Jim Chen

Jim Chen (born 1966 ) is an American legal scholar. He is a professor and dean at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville.

Life

Chen studied from 1983 to 1987 at Emory University. 1987-1988 he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Iceland. In 1991 he received his Juris Doctor from Harvard University. After that, he worked at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit under J. Michael Luttig and the Supreme Court of the United States, Clarence Thomas. From 1993 to 2007 he taught at the University of Minnesota and was also dean of the law faculty since 2004. As a visiting professor in 1995 he was at the University of Nantes, in 1999 at the Heinrich -Heine- University of Dusseldorf and 2000 at the Slovak University of Agriculture Nitra. Since 2007 he has been at the University of Louisville.

Chen's work includes administrative law, agricultural law, constitutional law, market regulation, environmental law, industrial policy and legislation.
