Jim Diamond (singer)

Jim Diamond ( born September 28, 1951 in Glasgow ) is a British pop singer and songwriter.

Career

Jim Diamond grew up in Glasgow's East End, where he was influenced by the music of Ray Charles and Otis Redding. At the age of 14 he formed his first band. Later, Jim played with Gully Foyle, not only in England but also on the European continent. It was followed by the move to London. There was established in 1975, the group bandit. It came to a contract with Clive Davis ' Arista Records. Although the band against the spirit of the times swam and therefore remained fairly unsuccessful, appeared in 1977 an album.

Diamond sang then as a studio musician, among other things, on the album Just Easy by Alexis Korner. The new move, this time to Los Angeles, cooperation brought me Earl Slick, guitarist David Bowie's album Young Americans, and Carmine Appice from the band by Rod Stewart. The three musicians went with Eddie Kramer, the legendary Jimi Hendrix producers into the studio to write and record some songs.

During the time in LA Jim Diamond was asked to return to London to meet with Tony Hymas and Simon Phillips of the Jeff Beck band, the group Ph.D. to start. With the published early 1982 song I Will not Let You Down, the first single should be equal to an absolute world success. The second album Is It Safe? contained a Europe-wide hit (I Did not Know ), where Jeff Beck was heard on guitar.

After the separation of Ph.D. Diamond signed a solo contract with A & M Records. 1984 the single reached I Should Have Known Better # 1 on the British charts. In the same year he released his solo album Double Crossed. The single Hi Ho Silver from the second solo album Desire for Freedom in 1986 reached the British Top 10

1993 Diamond Jim got a contract with Polygram Records and has performed at the Edinburgh Festival. In the late 1990s he met Snake Davis of M People, with whom he shared a love of blues and soul and performed together. By Snake learned Jim Diamond Paul Birchall, a Hammond player, know. With it, he recorded the album Souled and Healed.
