Jimi Jamison

Jimi Jamison ( born August 23, 1951 in Mississippi as Jimmy Wayne Jamison ) is an American singer of arena rock music. He was from 1984 to 1993 and from 2000 to 2006 singer of the band Survivor. After a solo career gave the band Survior and he announced in November 2011 that Jamison again acts as lead singer of the band. Zurvor he sang with the bands Memphis ( target) and Cobra. His distinctive voice coined the style of Survivor. Were known, inter alia, Eye of the tiger (Rocky III) or Burning Heart (Rocky IV).

Career

In 1989, Jamison was asked by the hard rock band Deep Purple take the place of Ian Gillan on vocals, since the latter had just got out of the band. In an interview, the Deep Purple member Jon Lord said in 1993 following this failed project:

But Jon Lord had the story a little messed up. It was Jamison's record label, which had just published with it a new album titled When Love Comes Down (1991 ), who wanted him to stay, to become instead a member of Deep Purple. Jimi Jamison did not go to Deep Purple, but focused on the co-writing and singing.

After Jamison left Survivor in 1993, he founded the band Jimi Jamison 's Survivor, but only published the hit I'm always here. Jimi Jamison 2000-2006 was the second time the singer of the rock band Survivor.

In 2007, Jimi Jamison, together with Dave Smith, Jack Holder, Tony Black, Kevin Stewart and his old comrades Pete Mendillo - all musicians in Memphis - The Jimi Jamison band. They played alongside classics of Survivor also new versions of titles of the groups ZZ Top, Cobra and Target.

In early 2008 Jimi Jamison and Jim Peterik came together again and signed for a plate with Frontiers Records. Their joint album was released on November 7, 2008 under the name "Crossroad Moments". In 2010 they released their next album, entitled Extra Moments.

In the fall of 2011, the ex- singer of Toto, Bobby Kimball, Jimi Jamison and released an album together titled Kimball Jamison. In November 2011, gave the band Survior and he announced on its website that Jimi Jamison started again as a singer with his old and now new band. A year later, in the fall of 2012, Jamison appeared next solo album titled Never Too Late.

ZZ Top, co- writting and more

Jimi Jamison has recorded six music videos, and has appeared on several TV shows.

He worked for the Grammy Awards Committee and is a member of AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), SAG ( Screen Actors Guild ) and NARAS ( National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences ).

Jamison sang background vocals for recordings by ZZ Top, Crocus, Jeff Healy band, and numerous other artists. Jimi has co-written with musicians such as Joe Walsh successful and renowned songs.

Billy Gibbons ( lead singer and guitarist of ZZ Top ) denotes Jimi Jamison because of their frequent and close cooperation in various albums also like to have as the fourth member of ZZ Top.

Charitable commitment

Jamison are numerous charitable concerts and participates in various charitable activities. The governors of Tennessee, Ohio and Arkansas tribute Jimi Jamison's social commitment before and behind the scenes of his concerts.
