Stewart came early with cars and motorsport in touch. His father, Bob Stewart, who took himself motorcycle racing, operated a car dealership and an auto repair shop. This provided him with a Jaguar C -Type, with which he could go first race. In 1952 he was discovered by racer David Murray and committed team Ecurie Ecosse racing from its. In a Cooper T20, he joined in 1953 in the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Great Britain, but slipped in the 79th round in the wet the track and could not finish the race.

In 1954 he was engaged by the Aston Martin works team. For this he met with Graham Whitehead in an Aston Martin DBS3 at the 24- hour race at Le Mans. In an accident during the race he broke an arm. In the same year he started his comeback at the 1000 km Nürburgring, but again had an accident and hurt his arm again. He then ended his career. He then worked in the car sales in Britain and the United States.

After the repeated accidents and injuries his brother's parents Jackie Stewart initially banned motorsport, so this on his other passion, clay pigeon shooting, concentrated. In his autobiography, Jackie still referred to the considerable influence of his brother, who took him to motorsport.
