Jiří Němec

Jiří Němec ( born May 15, 1966 in Pacov ) is a former Czechoslovak and Czech football player and current coach.

Playing career

Němec began playing football in 1974 in his birthplace Pacov. The age of 15 he moved to Dynamo České Budějovice. From 1987 to 1990 he played for Dukla Prague, he then joined city rivals Sparta.

1993 brought him the FC Schalke 04 Gelsenkirchen For the midfielder made ​​256 games ( 6 goals) in the Bundesliga. With Schalke he won the 1997 UEFA Cup and in 2001 and 2002, the DFB Cup. In 1997 he was voted Czech Player of the Year. In 2002 he returned to his homeland and signed for one season at FK Chmel Blšany. In 2003 he moved to Sparta Prague, 2004 FK Viktoria Zizkov. In 2005 he went back to Sparta Prague, but was there only for the B team on. Finally, he played 2005/ 06 for the fourth division team FK Dobrovice.

He played from 1990 to 2001 84 times in the Czech national team, with whom he participated in the 1990 World Cup (no insert) and the European Championships in 1996 and 2000. The 1-0 in the 2-2 draw against South Korea on 27 May 1998 was his only goal in the jersey of the national team, which he led 36 times as captain on the field. His greatest success with the national team was the second place at the European Championships in 1996.

At the AGM on 10 May 2010 Němec was appointed to the Schalke honor cabin.

Coaching career

In the summer of 2006, he was an assistant coach at Dukla Prague. By working with the second division Jakubčovice Fotbal went Günter Bittengel, by then head coach at Dukla, after Jakubčovice nad Odrou, Němec took over the team. Following the acquisition of the license of Jakubčovice Fotbal by Dukla Bittengel returned to Prague and Němec was again his co- trainer.
