As Gross did not comply with this request withdrawal of the coalition partners, were the Ministers of KDU- CSL and US-DEU out from the government, which led to the de facto collapse of the government. Since large but now had no longer a majority in Parliament, he made but ultimately the way for a renewal of the previous coalition released and declared on 25 April 2005 his resignation. On the same day, the Vice Chairman of the CSSD and Minister for Regional Development was sworn in as the new Prime Minister Jiří Paroubek by President Václav Klaus and sworn in, ministers of his cabinet. The taking place at the end of the legislative elections on 2 and 3 June 2006, the Social Democrats won though added easily, but were behind the ODS only the second strongest party. Moreover, because the former coalition partner US-DEU disappeared from the political scene, there was no majority for the continuation of the previous center-left government. Since the House of Representatives DC term, there was a stalemate between the right and left bearing of 100 seats, there was a political deadlock in the country. Not only the formation of a government, even the constitution of the House of Representatives was delayed due to lack of majority for a candidate of a particular camp. Under the Constitution, the government was initially continued in office and Paroubek explained only 2 more months after the elections, on 16 August 2006, his resignation. Until the swearing-in of the reign of his successor, Mirek Topolánek, on 4 September 2006, the government was still Paroubek provisionally in office.
