Jiroemon Kimura

Jiroemon Kimura (Japanese木村 次郎 右卫门Kimura Jiroemon; born April 19, 1897 in Kamiukawa, Takeno -gun (now Kyotango ); † June 12, 2013 in Kyotango ) was a Japanese Altersrekordler. He was born, according to Japanese authorities on 19 April 1897, so that was 116 years and 54 days old, outperforming the previous male age record of Christian Mortensen, who died aged 115 years and 252 days. Kimura's true date of birth could also be March 19, 1897, which would make him look older by a further 31 days. An independent scientific investigation that one of the two data (and thus Kimura's birth year) prove stands out so far.

Life

He was born as a child of the rice and vegetable farmers Morizo ​​and Fusa Miyake in the village Kamiukawa and was named Kinjiro Miyake (三 宅 金治郎). The name Jiroemon Kimura, he participated in since his wife's family had no male heirs, which makes it the ninth of that name.

Since the death of Walter Breuning in April 2011, Kimura was the oldest living man, and also the only living man from a secured born before 1900. Since December 17, 2012, he was also the oldest living man. Since December 28, 2012 Kimura is the oldest man who ever lived, as measured by the absolute age. Since the death of 113 -year-old James Sisnett on May 23, 2013 Kimura was the last living man who had been born in the 19th century and thus had lived in three centuries. He lived most recently with the family of one of his grandchildren in his hometown Kyotango and died in a hospital.

According to the ORF Kimura has worked until his retirement 40 years at the post office ( according to the news magazine Der Spiegel 45 years old), and then held up to the age of 90 years with agriculture fit. He had 7 children, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 14 or 15 great-great grandson. He did not reach the age of Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, who died in 1997, 122 years; this is the highest age of a person that could be detected so far. His hometown Kyotango has initiated a research project to answer the question why more than a hundred of its 60,000 residents are over 100 years old.
