Jizzax ( Uzbek Jizzax, Cyrillic Жиззах, Russian Джизак Dschisak ) is a city in Uzbekistan with 148,850 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2009) and capital of the province Jizzax.

In Jizzax was once an important hub of the Silk Road on the route Samarkand Ferghana Valley. The city is located in the edge region of the Golodnaja - steppe and near the strategically important Jilanutipass, which allows access to the Serafschantal. Today Jizzax is a relatively modern city with two universities.

In 1916 Jizzax was the center of an anti- Russian movement, but was quickly shattered.
