Joachim Mattern

Joachim Mattern ( born 2 May 1948 in Beeskow ) is a former German canoeist and canoe coach.

The canoe racers of the SC Berlin- Grunau won at the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 at the double kayak ( with Bernd Olbricht ) over 500 m gold and 1,000 m silver medal. He was 1977 World Champion in the double kayak over 500 m and Vice World Champion in double kayak over 1,000 m.

Mattern was to 2005 national coach of the kayak men at the German Canoe Association and is dedicated to the then junior to the federal power bases. In 2009 he was appointed to the coaching staff of the German national team again due to illness by Rolf- Dieter Amend.
