Joan Shawlee

Joan Shawlee ( born March 5, 1926 in Forest Hills, New York, † March 22, 1987 in Hollywood, California, until 1950 Birth Name Joan Fulton ) was an American actress.

Life and career

Shawlee gave her film debut in 1945, initially without mention in the credits. By the end of her film career was followed by nearly 100 film and television appearances. Except for a few films - for example, in an Abbott and Costello movie of 1947 - Shawlee played only supporting roles, and sometimes their performances remained uncredited unmentioned. Her most famous roles they played well in the comedies of Billy Wilder, such as the capricious chapel leader Sweet Sue beside like in Manche It Hot with Marilyn Monroe, a year later in the apartment in the role of Sylvia and 1963 alongside Shirley MacLaine in Irma la Douce, where she acted like a prostitute. She performed regularly in the Dick Van Dyke Show, and had for a short time their own television series. One last time played Joan Shawlee 1985 as a guest star in the U.S. series Highway to Heaven. She died in 1987 at the age of 61 years to cancer.
