Joanna Johnston

Joanna Johnston is a British costume designer who was nominated for an Oscar in 2013.

Life

Johnston started in the film business in 1978 as assistant to the costume designer. From 1987, she was then responsible as a costume designer, being the first time for the horror film Hellraiser this function - exercised the gateway to hell. In the years 1989 and 1990 Johnston designed the costumes for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Back to the Future II and III and was subsequently nominated in 1991 for three Saturn Awards. She worked with Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis together seven times. In 2009, she received another nomination for the Saturn Award, due to her costume designs for the film biography Valkyrie - The Stauffenberg assassination. 2012 Johnston was hired for the film drama Lincoln. For her work she received a year later, a BAFTA Award nomination and her first Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design.
