Joby Ogwyn

Joby Ogwyn (* 1974) is an American mountain climber, BASE jumper and wingsuit jumper.

Life

Ogwyn grew up in Louisiana and studied Economics at Centenary College of Louisiana.

He started as a teenager with mountain climbing. At the age of 18, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and in 1999 was 24 years, the then youngest Americans, who had climbed Mount Everest. At age 26 he was the youngest at the time climber who had climbed all Seven Summits. He then worked as a mountain guide in the Himalayas. After climbing the Lhotse and Makalu to Ogwyn turned to the speed climbing. So he climbed Cho Oyu in 2004 in 8 hours. 2006 Ogwyn climbed the Northeast Ridge of Mount Everest in 24 hours.

In 2007, Ogwyn with the producers of the television series National Geographic Adventure Adventure Wanted to where he performed various extreme sports.

In 2009 Ogwyn jumped the first time with the wingsuit from the Matterhorn. For May 2014, the first wingsuit jump from Mount Everest is planned.

Ogwyn lives in Italy and California.
