Jochen Hippel

Jochen Hippel ( born October 14, 1971 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German musician who wrote music for computer games while the 16-bit computer era.

During school Hippel experimented with the C64. After that he was under the pseudonym Mad Max the group The exceptions (in short: TEX ), which created demos for the Atari ST. The music often based on classics of the C64 era and was ported to the demos. The group had cult status in the demoscene. Demos like LCD ( Little Color Demo) or BIG- Demo ( Best In Galaxy) first showed by technical tricks the full potential of the ST by the entire color palette applied eg by display list interrupts simultaneously on the screen.

The sound chip Yamaha YM2149 Hippel drove through self-designed drivers to the maximum output. TEX later joined the Alliance The Union and contributed to The Union demo. Hippel composed music for various 16- bit computer games, among other things, the company Thailon software. A remix of some pieces he published on the CD Give it a try. This type of music is also known as Chiptune.

For the game Atomix (1990) and Trex Warrior - 22nd Century Gladiator ( 1991 ) contributed Hippel the music for the intro at Thailon.
