Joseph "Joe" Webb ( born November 14, 1986 in Birmingham, Alabama) is an American professional American football player. It can be used both as a wide receiver and as a quarterback. He plays for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League ( NFL).

Career

Webb was committed in the NFL Draft 2010 in the sixth round by the Minnesota Vikings. He was initially as a player that could be used as a wide receiver, then the Head Coach Brad Childress, however, later decided to let him play just as a quarterback.

His first game in the NFL, he completed on 5 December 2010 against the Buffalo Bills. In this game, however, he only played the kickoff and a turn as a wide receiver. A week later he played against the New York Giants for the first time as a quarterback. Two of his five passes arrived.

After the injury of Brett Favre in the penultimate game week against the Chicago Bears, he was set as the starting quarterback for this and the last game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Especially against the Eagles, he made a good long-distance figure, latched on to a touchdown and threw 26 passes for a space gain of 129 yards. The Vikings won surprisingly with 24:14.

For the 2011 season, Webb was intended only as the third quarterback behind Donovan McNabb and Christian Ponder. After the former in early December was released and Ponder showed little consistent performance, Webb came sporadically to game time. In the game against the Detroit Lions, he came in the third quarter in the game and managed with a cast and a touchdown erlaufenen almost to convert a 17- point deficit into a victory. Overall, he ran for 109 yards in this game space gain, a team of internal record. Two weeks later, he succeeded in the last season game against the Washington Redskins a perfect quarterback rating and a 33:26 victory, the first since two months for the Vikings. In preparing for the 2013 season Webb was after he was already previously used as a wide receiver, just more used to this position.

The Carolina Panthers committed Webb in March 2014 as a quarterback.
