Joel Polis

Joel Polis ( born October 3, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American actor, who plays in the theater and in films and television series.

Life

Joel Polis grew up in his native Philadelphia. He has two older brothers and an identical twin brother. Following entry into the high school he was successful in gymnastics and was able to get a scholarship to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. There he began to play theater. He had his first appearance in a university production of the musical West Side Story. It was followed by a tour to Europe on a scholarship from the Summer Theatre Festival, where he played in Germany and the UK.

Back in the U.S., he initially joined in a show as a clown on before he went to New York University. In New York he studied with Broadway director Lloyd Richards, who advised him to make his studies to an end. Polis took his advice and received his Bachelor's degree ( BA) in Los Angeles. He subsequently won a place at the Yale Drama School, Yale University, New Haven ( Connecticut ). There he was in contact with a variety of sometimes become very renowned theater people and graduated from there with a Master of Arts.

Following Polis went back to New York. There he was able to celebrate its first successes in the theater. He continued to work in theater and has been seen to this day in many productions. He indicates that his first love of the theater still applies, in particular the work on implementing new pieces. Accordingly, he is active in the theater now as a director and producer. He also gives workshops in drama and coaches other actors and actresses.

In addition to his theater work Polis is also often involved in the U.S. television, often in small supporting roles he plays in the popular television series.

Joel Polis lives in Venice, California.
