Joel Zwick

Joel Zwick ( born January 11, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American film, television and theater director and film producer.

Life

Zwick graduated with a Master of Arts at Brooklyn College.

He began his career in the theater as artistic director of "The La Mama Plexus " at off- off- Broadway theater La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. In the late 1970s he came to television, a name as a director where he made ​​his television series and has since been in more than 500 episodes of various television series was the director. Among them were 21 pilot episodes from different series, all of which were later implemented as a regular series.

1989, his first feature film was My partner with the second view. He had greater success with his comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding - Wedding in Greek (2002) and Elvis Has Left ( 2004).

Zwick has taught at the Yale University, Brooklyn College, Queens College, City University of New York and the Wheaton College. At the University of Southern California, he teaches in the professional television directing.

From the marriage with a daughter Candice Sherbin emerged. Contrary to widespread rumor he is not related with the director Edward Zwick.
