Johan Vilhelm Gertner
Johan Vilhelm Gertner ( born May 10, 1818 in Copenhagen, † March 29, 1871 ) was a Danish painter.
Life and work
Gertner attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and drew first objects of the Museum of Antiquities of engraving. Gertner was awarded the contract to hold the celebrations for the anointing of Christian VIII on 28 June 1840 in several monumental images.
Later, Gertner turned to portraiture. He was a safe, if somewhat superficial sense of form attesting a confident color choice and the ability to be taken, however, not always pleasant characterization of its models.
