Johann Bernhard Bach

Johann Bernhard Bach ( * May 23, 1676 in Erfurt, † June 11, 1749 in Eisenach ) was a German composer of the Bach family, and a second cousin of JS Bach.

He has been trained musically by his father Johann Egidius Bach as a child. Later he studied with Johann Sebastian Bach in Weimar. In 1695 he became organist in Erfurt and Magdeburg. Later he succeeded his uncle, Johann Christoph Bach as organist in Eisenach and as a harpsichordist in the court orchestra 1703., The largest part of his musical creativity, but four orchestral suites and some organ works, was lost. It is known that JS Bach with his orchestra Collegium Musicum in Leipzig aufführte various pieces of his cousin. From 1708 to 1712 Johann Bernhard Bach collaborated with Georg Philipp Telemann. His son Johann Ernst Bach was his successor as organist at the Church of St. George in Eisenach.
