Johann Daniel Ritter

Johann Daniel Knight ( born October 16, 1709 Schlanz, † May 15 1775 in Wittenberg ) was a German historian.

Life

Born the son of a cavalry officer of the imperial troops Johann Ritter in Silesia and his wife Anna Rosina ( Born Böhme of Hujaschnitz ), he made the right woman in the city and Breslau to record from May 31, 1730 at the University of Leipzig to study. There he gained on February 21, 1732 the academic degree of Magister and it began to hold lectures in Leipzig in port.

Subsequently, he was appointed in 1735 to associate professor of philosophy, was appointed councilor in 1742 and was a full professor of history at the University of Wittenberg. In addition, the Chair of Ethics was conferred on him, after he had in 1761 rejected a professorship at the University of Leiden. 1748 awarded him the Faculty of Law, University of Göttingen doctorate without having applied for it. However, he remained until his death in Wittenberg.
