Johann Philipp Neumann

Johann Philipp Neumann ( * December 27 1774 in Trebitsch, Moravia, † October 3, 1849 in Vienna) was an Austrian physicist, librarian and poet.

1810/11 he was rector of the University of Graz. From 1815 to 1845 he was a professor at the Polytechnic Institute in Vienna (now University of Technology ), whose library he founded in 1816 and directed until 1843.

He wrote the text for Deutsche Messe by Franz Schubert, whose composition was completed in 1827. Even the unfinished opera Sakontala, D 701, he wrote the text.
