Johann Stegner

Johann Stegner ( born December 20 1866 in Frohnlach; † January 7, 1954 in Coburg ) was a German politician ( SPD).

Life

Johann Stegner, son of a construction worker, grew up in Scheuerfeld. He made a brewer teaching and then went on several years of wandering. At first he worked as a brewer until he in 1900 as an innkeeper in Coburg leased an economy. Stegner was co-founder in 1903 of the Coburg co-operative society in the year. In 1909 he became the co-op board member and full-time treasurer. He worked there until his retirement in 1932. In addition, he worked from 1906 to 1917 as chairman of the union cartel Coburg.

Policy

Around 1890, Johann Stegner joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany, for which he was a candidate in elections to the Landtag Coburg 1908 and 1912. In November 1918 he became chairman of the Coburg Workers' Council and moved to the election of February 9, 1919 as Member of Parliament for the Social Democratic Party in the Coburg State Assembly. Their he was a member until the dissolution (due to the union of the State of Coburg with the Free State of Bavaria) on 30 June 1920. Starting from 19 March 1920 until the election on November 7, 1920, initially in an advisory capacity, he represented the Coburg region with Hermann Maempel and Hans Schack in the Bavarian Landtag.
