Johanna Doderer

Johanna Doderer ( born September 18, 1969 in Bregenz) is an Austrian composer. She's great-niece of the writer Heimito of Doderer and a great- great-granddaughter of architect Carl Wilhelm von Doderer.

Artistic meaning

Johanna Doderer studied in Graz with Beat Furrer (composition), and later in Vienna with Klaus Peter Sattler ( film and media composition) and Erich Urbanner (composition). She lives in Vienna. A main focus in her work, the regular work with artists such as Patricia Kopatchinskaya, Sylvia Khittl - Muhr, Marlis Petersen, Ulf Schirmer and Edua Zádory.

Johanna Doderer work extends from chamber music and orchestral works to opera. In musical theater, she sees a special focus its future work.

On 1 September 2006, her second opera " POWER " premiered successfully in the Museum Quarter in Vienna. On September 27, 2006, she was represented ( Austria ) with a new commissioned work ( for Accordion and Strings 1, DWV 45) at the international festival Klangspuren Festival. As part of the Haydn Year 2009 her second piano trio was performed in Eisenstadt and London. In May 2009 Doderer Salve Regina premiered at the concert series Paradisi Gloria in Munich. In the same month the premiere of Doderer Antonia Pozzi- song cycle took place in Milan. Within the framework of Linz Capital of Culture 2009 Doderer Zaha Hadid's study of painting Vision for Madrid was premiered.

2010 was played at the request of the Federal President Heinz Fischer Johanna Doderer String Quintet during the celebrations of his swearing-in ceremony in the Austrian Parliament. A further highlight of the concert calendar, 2010 was the premiere of Doderer fourth opera The luminous flux in the New Opera Erfurt / Germany in late October. The luminous flux deals with the fate of Ira Hayes, who came by the photo Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima to fame, but it broke.

Since 2010, the composer sat apart with works by Ingeborg Bachmann and Paul Celan; 27 April 2011, the soprano Ildiko Raimondi brought (Wiener Staatsoper) with a quartet of the Vienna Philharmonic Doderer song cycle on poems by sub rosa Bachmann in Joseph Chapel of Vienna Hofburg.

On 10 December 2012, the University of Graz Art devoted to the composer a Personale.
