Johannes Frederik Fröhlich

Johannes Frederik Fröhlich ( Johannes Frederik Frøhlich, born August 21, 1806 Copenhagen, † May 21, 1860 ibid ) was a Danish composer of German origin.

Cheerful was a violin student of Claus Schall and Friedrich Kuhlau and also had training as a flutist and pianist. He was choirmaster since 1827 and in 1836 Kapellmeister at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, also the founder and first chairman of the Musical Society of Copenhagen. He composed a symphony ( in E flat major, Op 33 ), three ballets (in collaboration with August Bournonville ), three violin concertos, three string quartets, violin and flute sonatas and duets and trios for flute.
