Johannes Steen

Johannes Vilhelm Christian Steen (* July 22, 1827, † April 1, 1906 ) was a Norwegian politician of the liberal party Venstre.

Steen was in 1859 a member of the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting, served as Odelstingspräsident 1871-1873 and 1877-1881 and as President of the Parliament from 1881 to 1888 and from 1895 to 1898. Finally, he was Norwegian Prime Minister from 1891 to 1893 and again from 1898 to 1902.

From 1897 until his death belonged to the Norwegian Nobel Committee Steen. He was honored with the Order of St. Olav ( Grand Cross ).
