John Bonetti

John Bonetti ( born June 1928 in Brooklyn, New York City; † 28 June 2008) was an American professional poker player.

Bonetti began at the age of 54 years to play poker and won three bracelets at the World Series of Poker. He also was third twice in the main event of the tournament series. Bonetti has also achieved success at the World Poker Tour. He was at the Fifth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open, seventh and won $ 86,377. His income amounted to $ 4,188,332 through official poker tournaments. He also was one of the most important mentors of Phil Hellmuth.

Bonetti lived in Houston, was married and had three sons. He fought since 1992 against prostate cancer and a spinal cord tumor; In June 2008, he died at the age of 80 years.
