John Bost

John (actually: Jean -Antoine ) Bost ( born March 4, 1817 in Moutier in the Bernese Jura, † November 1, 1881 in Paris) was a Reformed pastor and social pioneer.

After training as a bookbinder 's son Ami Bost tutor in Ireland. He sought a career as a pianist and took piano lessons with Franz Liszt, but broke off his career in 1840. From 1843 he studied theology and was ordained in 1844 in Montauban in Orléans. After that, he was for 35 years pastor of La Force ( arrondissement Bergerac) and founded orphanages and old people's homes, homes for epileptics and the mentally and physically disabled.
