John Cadbury

John Cadbury ( born August 12, 1801 in Birmingham, † May 11, 1889 ) was a British entrepreneur.

Career

Cadbury was " a member of the Religious Society of Friends " (Quakers) and founded in 1824 in the Bull Street in Birmingham, the chocolate company Cadbury Limited, now a global company. John Cadbury was also known by his social reforms. The motivation for its founding was to dissuade the people from alcohol consumption. The negative attitude to alcohol arose from his Quäkerüberzeugung (see article " Quäkerzeugnis ").

Cadbury was married twice. His first wife Priscilla Ann Dymond died two years after her marriage in 1826. With his second wife, Candia Barrow Cadbury had seven children. Two of his sons, Richard and George, the company carried on.
