John Danyel

John Danyel ( Daniel, baptized November 6, 1564 in Wellow, Somersetshire, † 1626 in London ) was an English singer, lutenist and composer.

John Danyel was the brother of well-known in his time poet Samuel Danyel (1562-1619), whose seals were often set to music, among others, John Danyel. This was named after studying in Oxford at the English court and was from 1625 until his death Kammerlautenist and singer of the king.

He created predominantly vocal works with lute accompaniment, the 1606 published collection "Songs for the Lute, Viol and Voice." Some of his compositions are still being brought to the stage, he is one of the most important representatives of the loud song of its time.
