John Elefante

John Elefante (born 1958 in Levittown, New York) is an American singer, musician and producer.

Life

He became known in the early 1980s, with whom he had as a singer and keyboardist of the progressive rock band Kansas some chart success. After the departure of guitarist and main songwriter Kerry Livgren Elefante left the band. Then he produced along with his brother Dino Elefante countless albums of Christian rock and metal bands, so for Petra, Barren Cross and Guardian. Its quantities of Petra albums Beyond Belief, Unseen Power and Double Take in 1990, 1992 and 2000 each awarded the Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album. The Petra Petra Praise albums: The Rock Cries Out and Beyond Belief reached also with over 500,000 copies sold in the U.S. Gold status.

In the late 1980s he started with his brother Dino Elefante the metal band Mastedon, sprang from the initially two albums. Wrote the songs and sang John Elefante; his brother Dino Elefante played guitar. The brothers involved more singers from the Christian metal scene in the project.

1995 John Elefante began his solo career, from the emerged three albums until 2009. With the albums Windows of Heaven in 1995 and Corridors in 1997 he was represented in the Billboard charts.

Wrote for the film St. Elmo 's Fire (1985) and he produced Young and Innocent. In the film Tribulation ( 2000), he is represented with the song If You Just Believe, which he wrote, sang and produced, as well as a producer of Hearts Of Passion.

As an actor he appeared in the film Kansas: Sail On - The 30th Anniversary Collection on, which was published in the U.S. in 2005.

In 2009, his most recent album Mastedon appeared with his band Mastedon 3, which was not published in the U.S. under the title Revolution of Mind. Represented among others on the album are the guitarists Dave Amato of REO Speedwagon and Kerry Livgren. In the same year a remastered reissue of the first disc Mastedon It's A Jungle Out There has been placed on the market with 3 bonus tracks. Both albums appeared in Europe at the same time on November 6, 2009 Frontiers Records.

In the summer of 2013 came with On my Way to the Sun his next solo album on the market. David Ragsdale and Rich Wiliams of Kansas worked with on the album.
