John Evans, Baron Evans of Parkside

John Evans, Baron Evans of Parkside (* October 19, 1930 ) is a British Labour Party politician.

Life

John Evans visited the Jarvis Central School in Tyne and Wear. After his graduation he worked from 1946 to 1952 as a naval locksmith. Then he got a job as an engineer in the merchant marine and became involved with the union. From 1962 to 1974 he was a member of the Urban District in Hebburn, last two years as Chairman. He was then at the British general election 1974 Member of the Labour Party in the constituency Newton ( Lancashire ). From 1976 to 1978 he was also a member of the European Parliament. In 1983 he was Member of Parliament for the constituency of St Helens North, until he was defeated in 1997 David Watts.

On April 19, 1997, he was appointed Life Peer of St. Helens on Merseyside and became known as Baron Evans of Parkside.

Since 1959, he is married to Joan Slater. From this marriage two sons and a daughter were born.
