John Grinder

John Grinder ( born January 10, 1939) is an American linguist and co-developer of Anglist and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP ).

Life

Grinder studied English and worked on Noam Chomsky's generative transformational grammar. As a professor at the University of California at Santa Cruz where he met the psychology student Richard Bandler. Bandler, who led a Gestalt therapy group at that time, Grinder asked to participate in this as an observer. Later on both exchanged the role of observer and group leader. Together they began to communication - and especially the non-verbal - to explore in psychotherapy. From 1974, both modeled their own therapeutic intendiertes concept that (later) Gregory Bateson processed the approaches of Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir, Milton Erickson and.

In The Structure of Magic ( 2 vols, 1975f. ) And Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton H. Erickson ( 2 vols, 1975 and 1977) especially Erickson's findings of hypnotherapy have been adapted. With these and the following books Grinder and Bandler justified then the Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), whose emergence and development from now on they contributed various publications.
