John H. Ware III

John Haines Ware III ( born August 29, 1908 in Vineland, New Jersey, † July 31, 1997 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1970 and 1975 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Ware attended the public schools in Oxford ( Pennsylvania) and Miami. Then he studied until 1930 at the University of Pennsylvania. In the following years he worked in various industries. Among other things, he was employed by a newspaper chain and the American Water Works Company. He founded the Penn Fuel Gas Company that supplied customers in 31 counties. He became a multi-millionaire who donated money for charitable and social institutions. Politically, Ware joined the Republican Party. Between 1956 and 1960 he was mayor in Oxford; 1961 to 1970 he was a member of the Senate of Pennsylvania. Within the Republican Party of Pennsylvania, he headed the Finance Committee. He was also curator of the Lincoln University and the University of Pennsylvania.

After the death of Mr George Watkins goods at the due election for the ninth seat of Pennsylvania as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on November 3, 1970. After two re- elections he could remain until January 3, 1975 at the Congress. Since 1973 he represented there as a follower of William J. Green III the fifth electoral district of his state. In his time as a congressman fell among other things, the end of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement, and in 1974 the Watergate scandal. This year he gave up another Congress candidate.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives John Ware took his previous activities on again. He died on 31 July 1997 in Lancaster.
