John I of Brienne, Count of Eu

John of Brienne († June 12, 1292 ), as was a John II, Count of Eu from the house Brienne. He was the son of Alfonso de Brienne and Mary of Lusignan - Issoudun, heiress of Eu.

By the death of his mother in 1252 Johann went to their heritage, the county Eu. At this time, he accompanied his father on the sixth crusade to Egypt. After its failure he remained in Palestine, where he in 1252 by King Louis IX. ( Saint Louis) in Jaffa the knighting received.

John died in 1292 in Clermont -en- Beauvaisis and was buried in the choir of the Abbey of Foucarmont.

He married Beatrix de Châtillon († 1304), a daughter of Guido II de Châtillon, Count of Saint- Pol. Their children were:

  • Isabelle, ∞ with John II of Dampierre, Viscount of Troyes
  • Johanna, ∞ with Vice Count Raymond VI. Turenne (House Comborn ); ∞ with Renaud de Picquigny, Vidame of Amiens
  • Margaret, ∞ with Vice Count Guido II of Thouars
